Bugatti has introduced Programme Solitaire, a new coachbuilding initiative that will produce no more than two bespoke vehicles per year. The program builds on the company’s Sur Mesure customisation service, allowing clients to commission unique, one-of-a-kind cars built on existing Bugatti platforms.
The inaugural commission is the Bugatti Brouillard, a coupé inspired by founder Ettore Bugatti’s favourite horse. The car will debut at Monterey Car Week, with a public appearance at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in Carmel, California.
Powertrain and Platform
The Brouillard is powered by Bugatti’s most advanced W16 quad-turbocharged engine, shared with the Chiron and Mistral. It uses the most powerful specification available.
- Engine: 8.0-liter W16, quad-turbocharged
- Output: 1,578hp
- Drivetrain: All-wheel drive
- Transmission: Seven-speed dual-clutch automatic
- Chassis: Carbon fibre monocoque with aluminium substructures
Chassis & Suspension

The carbon-fibre and aluminium chassis retains the core structural layout from the W16 program’s latest evolution. The lightweight monocoque is paired with fully independent suspension—double wishbones at the front and multi-link arrangement at the rear—developed to support both the high-output powertrain and bespoke bodywork. Adaptive damping is expected, though specific calibration details have not been disclosed.
Aerodynamics
Aero elements are integrated into the Brouillard’s sculpted surfaces.
- Front air intakes channel air through radiators to create a pressure drop, improving cooling efficiency.
- A fixed ducktail rear wing provides downforce and stabilises the car’s balance at speed.
- The rear diffuser uses an expanded functional surface area, made possible by re-packaging the exhaust system.
Wheels & Tyres
While specific dimensions were not provided, the Brouillard’s visual design makes the wheels appear proportionally larger by rendering the lower body in dark tones. The wheels are lightweight forged alloys paired with high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, although no official size data was released.
Exterior Design
The proportions are arranged to visually lower and lengthen the profile. The lower third is finished in darker tones, with continuous, reflection-based surfaces that avoid sharp creases, intended to evoke the musculature of a horse.
Design elements include:
- Horizontal LED front lighting
- Dark front-bumper detailing
- Arrow-shaped LED taillights spanning the rear
- Illuminated “BUGATTI” lettering
- Fixed glass roof
- Continuous centre spine from nose to tail
Interior and Craftsmanship
The cabin features a mix of traditional and modern materials:
- Custom-woven tartan fabrics from Paris
- Green-tinted carbon fibre trim
- Machined aluminium components
- Glass roof for increased interior light
- Horse embroidery on doors and seat backs
- Custom-fitted seats to the owner’s specification
- Machined aluminium gear shifter with glass insert containing a miniature sculpture of Brouillard, Ettore Bugatti’s horse

The centre spine is visible inside the car through the glass roof, linking exterior and interior design.
Bugatti Programme Solitaire
Only two vehicles per year will be produced under Programme Solitaire, each using an existing Bugatti powertrain and chassis with unique bodywork and interiors. Pricing for Brouillard has not been disclosed, but estimates suggest a figure above $30 million, which translates to AED 110 million, making it the most expensive car in the UAE.
The commissioning owner is a long-time Bugatti collector with a deep interest in the Bugatti family’s artistic heritage, seeking a design that reflects Ettore Bugatti’s equestrian inspirations.
Bugatti Cars In The UAE
Ultra-luxury vehicles and hypercars have a strong presence in the UAE, supported by a high concentration of collectors and a market accustomed to limited-series acquisitions. With Programme Solitaire producing only two one-offs annually, future commissions are likely to attract interest from buyers in the Emirates, making the UAE a probable destination for upcoming creations in the series.
