“We Will Not Lay Off Any Employees”: Says Dubai Businessman Rizwan Sajan Amid Regional Tensions

At a time when many across the region are navigating uncertainty, Dubai-based Danube Group has come forward with a bold, reassuring message to its employees: your jobs are safe and your salaries will be paid on time.

The company founder and Indian billionaire, Rizwan Sajan, shared a post saying “We will not lay off any employees”

Calling his 6,000+ employees as part of the family, Rizwan Sajan said “They have trusted us, worked with us, and built Danube Group… Today, it’s my responsibility to stand by them”

“Our employees are family”

Employees truly remain the heart of every company, and a leader who identifies that grows the company to bigger heights. Mr.Sajan stated that the company will not be laying off any staff and that salaries will continue to be paid on schedule, adding that the workforce is more than just employees – they are family.

According to him, the same people who stood by the company and helped build it over the years deserve the same loyalty and commitment in challenging times.

This isn’t the first time Danube Group has taken this kind of stance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company had committed to retaining staff and later reversed temporary salary cuts that had been introduced during the early months of the crisis.

The move back then earned widespread appreciation, and this latest announcement reflects a similar approach – protect employees first, profits can come along later.

Echoing the reassurance

Dubai-based entrepreneur Firas Al Msaddi, founder of fäm Properties, also shared a message urging business owners and CEOs to act responsibly during times of crisis.

In a story shared on Instagram, he stressed that while businesses can optimise costs and even discuss new pay structures with employees if mutually agreed upon, salaries should never be delayed or withheld.

His message was straightforward: paying employees on time is a responsibility that comes with being a business owner.

According to him, leaders sign up for this responsibility the moment they take on the title – and ensuring staff are paid until the last penny is part of that commitment.

Dubai’s leadership steps up for the residents

Support isn’t just coming from companies – Dubai’s leadership has also rolled out massive measures to protect jobs and businesses.

Earlier this week, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved an AED 1 billion economic support package aimed at protecting jobs and easing financial pressure across the emirate.

The initiative includes a range of economic incentives designed to support businesses, individuals, and families over the next three to six months, starting April 1.

In the post on X, Sheikh Hamdan said: “Our message is clear: Dubai remains committed to supporting individuals, families and businesses with confidence and stability.

A strong signal to the workforce

With major companies like Danube Group reassuring employees and government initiatives rolling out to support businesses, the message coming out of Dubai is one of stability and responsibility.

Businesses are being encouraged to stand by their teams, leaders are calling for ethical decision-making, and the government is stepping in with financial support to keep the economy steady.

And for thousands of employees working in Dubai, that reassurance goes a long way in maintaining confidence during uncertain times.
